✷ The RSD Cargo Base Layer
Three rear stash pockets carry your phone, multi-tool, snacks and a 350ml soft flask flat against your back. Nothing bounces on the descents. Nothing digs into your shoulders on the climbs. Nothing to unclip when you want a drink.

✷ Step 1
Same three-pocket cargo system, cut two ways. Both are compression fit and true to size. Between sizes? Always size up.
Not sure on size? Compression fit, true to size, and if you are between sizes we say size up. Still stuck, email us and we will pick it for you.
The 3-Pocket Cargo System
✷ How It Works
A backpack puts 2kg on your shoulders and a wet patch down your spine. A hip pack swings on the rough stuff and has to be unclipped to reach. We moved the storage into the one thing you were already wearing.
Multi-tool, tube, levers. Held flat and silent so nothing rattles down a rock garden.
Phone, keys, gels, snacks. Secure against your body over technical terrain, not swinging off your hips.
A 350ml soft flask rides in the outer pocket, off to the side. Reach it and drink without stopping or unclipping a thing.
✷ Why Riders Switch
This is not a jersey with a pocket sewn on. It is a compression base layer engineered to carry load without moving.
Three rear pockets for phone, gels, tools and a soft flask. Ditch the pack.
Moisture-wicking fabric pulls sweat off your skin on the long climbs.
Flatlock seams sit flat against the skin. No bunching, no chafe, hour four included.
85% recycled polyester with 15% elastane. Trail ready, planet conscious.
✷ Straight Comparison

No. This is a compression fit, so the fabric holds whatever you load against your body rather than letting it swing. That is the whole reason it beats a hip pack on technical terrain. Riders have run phone, tools and a full 350ml flask through rock gardens with it.
No. A jersey hangs off you. This is a compression base layer, so it sits against the skin, wicks sweat and keeps the load still. You can wear it on its own in summer or under your jersey when it cools down, and the rear pockets stay reachable either way.
Compression fit, true to size. The fabric stretches to mould against your skin without restricting movement. If you are between sizes, always size up. Men's runs S to 3XL, women's runs XS to 2XL.
No. The Cargo Base Layer is designed to be worn untucked so the three rear pockets stay accessible while you ride. Tucking it in defeats the point.
It is a moisture-wicking fabric built to move sweat off your skin and dry fast, which is exactly what you want on a hot climb. It is also the layer that replaces a backpack, and a pack is the single hottest thing you can put on your back.
The fabric is built to last. Our team has worn the same base layers for over a year of regular riding with no stretching, pilling or fading. Wash cold and air dry to keep it that way.
Cold machine wash, air dry. Skip the dryer and the fabric softener. Both shorten the life of compression fabrics.
If you crash and damage your gear on the trail, we give you 40% off a replacement. Just send us a photo. The Cargo Base Layer is covered, with no time limit. See how it works.
Australia wide: $10 standard (4 to 7 business days) or $15 express (2 to 3 business days), and standard is free on orders over $90. New Zealand from $12 and United States express $17 USD. All orders ship from Australia.
You have 30 days from delivery to request a return or an exchange. Item needs to be unworn with tags in its original packaging, and return postage is on you. Email contact@rubbersidedown.com.au and we will walk you through it.
✷ Your Downside
Buying riding gear online without trying it on is the real objection. So here is everything we do to make getting it wrong cost you nothing.
Wreck it in a stack and get 40% off the replacement. No time limit, just send a photo. How it works
Not feeling it after 30 days? Unworn with tags and we will make it right.
One base layer at $89.95 plus anything else and standard shipping is on us.
Designed, manufactured and tested here by riders, not shipped in from a catalogue supplier.
✷ Last Thing
You can do it with straps on your shoulders and a wet patch down your back, or you can do it with your kit sitting flat where you cannot feel it. Riders around the world already made that call and rated it 4.9.
